For just three weeks, a venue normally discreet in the 11th arrondissement of Paris will reveal a new facet of its history. From June 9 to 30, 2026, 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, excluding Sundays, the Palais de la Femme hosts a temporary tea salon ephemeral open to all, installed in the very heart of its vast hall Art Nouveau listed among the historic monuments.
Founded in 1926 by Blanche Peyron for the Salvation Army, the Palais de la Femme today supports more than 400 people facing hardship. For its centenary, this welcoming, rebuilding space is choosing to open up to the public in a new way, through a gourmet, convivial, and deeply human experience.
The idea? To invite visitors to push open the doors of this iconic building on Rue de Charonne to share a coffee, a pastry, and a few moments of conversation with the people who bring the place to life on a daily basis. Inspired by the tea room that once animated the Palais, this temporary space aims to foster connections among locals, volunteers, residents, and the curious.
To bring the project to life, the Palais de la Femme enlisted pastry chef Ophélie Barès. Trained at Ferrandi and having worked at Paris’ top houses such as Le Meurice, the Ritz, and Cheval Blanc, she here presents a deliberately simple and generous menu: a marbled cake, cookies, a honey-sesame financier, and a coconut tart with a raspberry heart imagined in tribute to Blanche Peyron.
Coffee, tea, juice and craft beverages accompany this affordable gourmet break, staying true to the venue’s accessibility and solidarity ethos. Beyond the indulgence, the initiative carries a strong social dimension: all profits will be reinvested in expanding the Palais de la Femme’s shared kitchens, a program for isolated residents staying at the hotel.
An exceptional opening, backed by a charitable project, not to be missed!
