Italian cuisine blended with French refinement... Lovers of fine, natural cuisine will want to head for Marcello, an Italian restaurant in Saint-Germain-des-Prés that transports us far from the Parisian asphalt, with its pretty terrace overlooking the cobbled courtyard below rue Mabillon, and its large dining room with its sleek, designer decor, but also with its seasonal menu featuring flavors that smell of sunshine!
A true haven of peace, where gourmets and gourmands will be charmed by the modern, urban decor and the tempting menu, where each dish stands out for its composition and finesse. The Vaconsin sisters, who own the place, are no newcomers to the capital, having already opened Steam Bar and Blueberry, two restaurants on rue du Sabot, also in the 6th arrondissement.
Here, they've imagined a hot spot, serving cocktails, hot beverages and a whole host of Italian delicacies. As for the decor, designer Gabriel Pistre has given the lounge an overhaul, offering gourmets and gourmands a wooded, chic and uncluttered setting, for an unrivalled sense of comfort and intimacy.
A cuisine that the editors were able to try out... And it was a pleasant surprise! For the aperitif, a cocktail, the Milano Sling, a drink made with Maraschino, crème de Noyaux, cherry liqueur, lime and frizzante. A cocktail with sweet flavors, reminding us a little (but really just a little...) of the famous Shirley Temple, but with more alcohol.
On the menu, a starter to share, with mozzarella di buffala and eggplant caviar that melts in the mouth. A real treat! For the main courses, we were tempted by the polpette and its revisited gnocchi, as well as the vegetarian lasagne. We particularly enjoyed the polpette, extremely tasty with its slightly acid tomato sauce, to awaken the taste buds in the best possible way!
And for dessert, three scoops of ice cream (yoghurt, hazelnut and almond), as well as a Paris-Palerme, a kind of Paris-Brest revisited in Sicilian flavors, with a pistachio praline in place of the hazelnut praline. A must-have for all lovers of pistachios, worked here in several textures. A great meal, without a doubt, for lovers of fine cuisine! Beware, however: this menu is for discerning gourmets, as the prices are a little high.
A fine address, all the same, to put in your diaries, for all lovers of fine Italian cuisine... Shall we go there, friends?
