Located in front of the Saint-Germain market, Marcello is THE restaurant of the Saint-Germain-de-Prés district which mixes the sweetness of Italy with the refinement of the cuisine in a resolutely modern setting, with a vast terrace sheltered from the tumult of the city. A beautiful place that the editorial staff had to test... We tell you about it!

Italian cuisine mixed with French refinement... Lovers of fine natural cuisine go to Marcello, an Italian restaurant in Saint-Germain-des-Prés that transports us far from the Parisian asphalt, with its pretty terrace on its paved courtyard below the rue Mabillon and its large room with a refined design, but also with its seasonal menu with beautiful flavors that smell of the sun!

A real haven of peace where gourmets and gourmands will be charmed by a modern and urban decoration, as well as by a tempting menu where each dish stands out by its composition and its finesse. The owners of the place, the Vaconsin sisters, are not new to the capital, since they already own the Steam Bar and Blueberry, two restaurants in the rue du Sabot, also in the 6th district.

Here, they have imagined a hot place, serving nice cocktails, hot drinks and a whole lot of food with the good flavors of Italy. As for the decor, the lounge area has been revised by designer Gabriel Pistre, offering gourmets and foodies a wooded, chic and uncluttered setting, for a feeling of unequalled comfort and intimacy.

A kitchen that the editors were able to test... And it was a nice surprise! For the aperitif, a cocktail, the Milano Sling, a drink based on Maraschino, cream of stone, cherry liqueur, lime and frizzante. A cocktail with sweet flavors, reminding us a little (but really a little...) of the famous Shirley Temple, but with more alcohol.

On the menu, a starter to share, with mozzarella di buffala and eggplant caviar that melts in the mouth. A real treat! For the main courses, we were tempted by the polpette and its revisited gnocchi, as well as by the vegetarian lasagne. We particularly appreciated the polpette, extremely tasty with its slightly acidic tomato sauce, to awaken the taste buds in the best way!

And for dessert, three scoops of ice cream (yogurt, hazelnuts and almonds), as well as a Paris-Palermo, a kind of Paris-Brest revisited with Sicilian flavors, with a pistachio praline instead of the hazelnut praline. A must-have for all pistachio lovers, worked here on several textures. A very good meal, without a doubt, for lovers of fine cuisine! Be careful, however: the menu is for well-informed gourmets, as the prices are a bit high.

A nice address, all the same, to be noted in the diaries, for all the lovers of good Italian cooking... Shall we go there, friends?
