To enjoy a fabulous gustatory journey between Peru and Japan, head to Tzantza. Nestled in Paris 1st arrondissement, this Latin-American inspired restaurant and cocktail bar reveals Nikkei-inspired food, delicious beverages and the friendly and festive atmosphere we missed so much!

Although tzantzas are the famous ritual shrunken heads formerly performed by Jivaros, this name now refers to a new restaurant in Paris that is both trendy, tasty and festive. Created by the dream team already behind Sauvages (Lucas Letrouit, entrepreneur Alexandre Mulliez, and the three producers ruling Phantasm and Vixens, namely Clément Lepoutre, Gary Farkas, and Olivier Muller), Tzantza is the new HQ for those filled with ideas who would like to meet new people and enjoy new experiences – as well as for those who love food. Because behind this festive spirit and this very sophisticated decoration both elegant and contemporary designed by Studio Louis Morgan, Tzantza provides you with a wonderful and express round trip to Latin America.

To make this journey unforgettable, Tzantza bets on Nikkei-inspired cuisine cooked by Italo-Peruvian chef Roberto Sanchez (Grand Véfour, Bristol…). For the least connoisseurs, this type of cuisine is a blend of specialties from Japan and Peru. At Tzantza, everything is homemade and is enjoyed as tapas. For instance, the menu features fried oysters and red tomato chalaca, smooth artichoke, miso glazed eggplant, leche de tigre tiradito with maracuja and even some nice flank of beef brushed with aji pancha and chimichurri.

As for us, we truly fell in love with the foie gras gyozas served with ponzu, sesame and spring onions, and the delicious and soft squid ink baos with crab, served with lemony and spicy mayonnaise.

Our hearts also stopped with the perfect cooking of the Josper squid with aji Amarillo chili pepper to season it up marvelously accompanied by cassava fries. A genuine success for this highly travel-inducing dish.

As for sweet-toothed, enjoy two delicious desserts available on the menu, you really have to taste. On one hand, the delicious mango tiradito served with cocoa shavings, and on the other hand, the refreshing spice ice cream, indulging and light as it should be!

To pair these flavorful, colorful and indulging dishes, there is nothing quite like a cocktail, is it? Shaker masters offer us classics but revisited the Tzantza style such as the Bloody Mary with mezcal. Mezcal is also used in “Teteo” (mezcal and sangrete) and the “L’Euphoria” (mezcal, yuzu, liqueur Saint-Germain and coconut sugar).

As for us, we really loved the “Solaris” revisiting the legendary pisco sour in a version infused with tagetes. If you like mojito, go for the “L’Amazonia” based on amber rum, picon, cinnamon, ginger beer and lime.

After all this, you cannot leave Tzantza. It is perfect since the place offers you to continue your night on at the Sauvages bar club, accessible through a secret staircase. At the turning tables, enjoy the best of the best such as Louise Chen, Aurèle, Mawimbi, Piu Piu, Villanova and David Reyner.

So, ready to make of Tzantza your new HQ in Paris?
