Behind the Haussmann-style buildings, discreet addresses surprise Parisians of all ages in search of a haven of peace away from the hustle and bustle of life in the capital. In the secret setting of hotel courtyards, you can enjoy a gourmet escapade in a charming atmosphere. Among these confidential haunts is Café Jeanne, one of the restaurants of theHôtel Park-Hyatt Paris Vendôme.
Inside, a beautiful glass roof lets in the soft light of day, while the design of the elegant bar, whose facets are reminiscent of a diamond, is a nod to the jewelry district in which we are located. On sunny days, the beautiful courtyard welcomes us for lunches in the sun and dinners under the stars. And while we're on the subject of stars, you should know that Café Jeanne's menu is the brainchild of chef Jean-François Rouquette, who is also behind the stoves at Pur', the hotel's Michelin-starred restaurant.
Although Café Jeanne is a less expensive, more bistronomic alternative to the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme'sgastronomic address, it's still very expensive and aimed more at a wealthy clientele in search of a confidential, luxurious spot: in addition to the spacing between tables, each guest can enjoy a degree of privacy without overhearing each other's conversations.
In principle, Café Jeanne advertises itself as a restaurant serving Mediterranean cuisine. However, this is not evident from the menu. On the whole, the menu is fairly consensual, without taking too many risks, with well-executed classics. The menu also includes a number of fairly common catering options, including a snack offer (club sandwich, burger, Caesar salad...) and French specialties (escargots de Bourgogne, croque-monsieur...), thus catering to the different desires of the regular clientele.
For starters, mimosa eggs, a favorite delicacy in the capital, are particularly popular at Café Jeanne. What explains their popularity? A garnish of spicy grainy mustard, with a melt-in-the-mouth texture to die for, that also manages to retain the distinctive notes of a hard, powdery yolk. The whole is supported by a crunchy celery remoulade, a welcome accompaniment to add that touch of freshness.

For some, however, eggs can be a little heavy. In this case, the "Camus"artichoke was a lighter and equally tasty alternative, accompanied by its "cereal garden", including lentils and hazelnuts for roasted notes, its vinaigrette, walnut oil and truffle juice sufficiently pronounced without overpowering the whole. The melt-in-the-mouth artichoke heart contrasts with the crunch of the dried fruit, and the plate combines freshness and comfort.

As for the main course, we can't resist the "à la plancha" lamb chops, which are cooked to perfection, allowing us to enjoy juicy, lightly grilled meat, flavored with thyme to sublimate the meat's natural flavor. They are served with silky-smooth mashed potatoes, with milky notes that take us back to our tenderest years.
It's important: don't miss out on the desserts! At the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme, talented pastry chef Naraé Kim 's refined, well-balanced creations are a testament to her meticulous attention to both the gourmet and the aesthetic. So it would be a shame to miss the opportunity to end the meal with a beautiful bouquet of her pastries.
The signature is the mille-feuilles aux trois vanilles coulant which, without altering this classic French pastry, reveals a creamier, smoother revisit that's both light and regressive. Beware, however, of biting off more than you can chew: this is a rather hearty entremets, best shared by two unless you're a real sweet tooth.
