Kaviari Delikatessen and its seafood produces come to the Marais

Seafood caterer Kaviari opened a new and 6th Delikatessen, in Paris Marais. On the menu of this venue both a restaurant, coffee shop and caterer, wonderful seafood to enjoy on site or at home. Between taramasalatas, smoked salmon, marinated salmon, caviar and smorrebrods, we do not know where to start.

Caviar and seafood merchant Kaviari has decided to start delicatessen (and caterer-restaurant) 18 months ago. Therefore, after rue des Martyrs (9th), rue Cler (7th), rue Donizetti (16th), rue de Villiers (17th) and Convention (15th), Kaviari Delikatessen opened their sixth store in a year and a half, in the Marais area. This flagship has settled rue François Miron in lieu of Autour du Saumon a brand Kaviari has merged with.

Therefore, this deli in the Marais area is the biggest of all and provide three distinctive places: a catering area, a coffee shop with takeout and on site, and a cafeteria with a few seats.

Of course, at Kaviari one enjoys seafood such as taramasalata including sea urchin or flying fish. A bit less sea-like flavors and more subtle than the common cod roe taramasalata. Taramasalata are usually served with hearty homemade blinis, prepared by the book, with the right dough.

In addition to many fish rillettes, Kaviari Delikatessen also offers a large choice of salmons to enjoy on site at the restaurant or to bring back home. The smoked wild salmon unveils all its strength, while the one from the Faroes is more delicate. Special mention to the spice-marinated salmon pastrami style: thicker, it has nice spicy and sweet flavors, a bit like gravlax but stronger.

Fishes are prepared in the Kaviari manufacture set rue de l’Arsenal also housing a restaurant where a guest top chef comes and cooks every month. Because Kaviari also supplies many chefs in seafood.

Kaviari Delikatessen also serves salads, marinated herrings, smorrebrods (hearty rye bread slices, typical from Danish cuisine), as well as pirojkis (Russian dumplings). These dumplings – served warm – are stuffed with meat, cheese and piperade.

As for dessert, Kaviari also serves cookies (matcha, cookie…), apple strudel, cheese cake and cinnamon rolls.

Only good things, although nibbled on, end up being a very hearty meal.
