Lilian Douchet – who competed in Top Chef France 2022 – recently inaugurated his new restaurant in Paris, called Dame Augustine. We went and discovered this charming restaurant. Divine cocktails, great dishes that are affordable, indulging and fuss-free.

Calling fans and people looking for something new! Top Chef France 2022 contestant Lilian Douchet opened two restaurants, one in Bordeaux, the other in Paris. Dame Augustine, here is the name of this brand-new table in Paris, set on Avenue des Gobelins in the 13th arrondissement.

A wonderful revenge for this chef whose story moved us all. As a matter of fact, the Top Chef contestant coming from Beauvais told he had to give up on his restaurant created during the pandemic. Bad timing for the entrepreneur as he had to become a supermarket manager instead.

First eliminated on episod 9 of Top Chef, Lilian Douchet came back on episode 10, motivated to stay, but eventually left the Top Chef adventure at the end of episode 13. And yet, life goes on for this talented chef who awakened our taste buds all season long.

We must say, the contestant did not come out of the blue. He learnt the ropes in many fabulous restaurants such as Paloma, La Truffière and even worked as sous-chef at the Georges V. He was spotted by the M6 team thanks to his TikTok account, as Doudou kitchen as he was posting his cooking skills and ideas. He was then offered to take part in the contest.

The restaurant-tearoom covers two stories and a large terrace in front of the venue for about 70 seats. Fair colors, wood everywhere, the design is laid-back and modern.

A beautiful bar is set across the entrance, where works a skilled barmaid who will attend to your every need. Watermelon sour and cranberry mint mocktail for us, it is a big yes.

Indulging, healthy and natural, whilst being sophisticated, here is how Lilian Douchet sees his Dame Augustine embodying the image of his new Parisian venue. On the menu, French produces from short delivery systems are given pride of place. A great cellar with wonders from independent winemakers awaits too.

So, let us get back to the topic in hand. What will Dame Augustine in Paris serve? The chef promises a creative, seasonal and affordable menu, wishing to delight us. As a matter of fact, you can expect a bistronomic cuisine for an affordable cost. For lunch, enjoy affordable set menus: a €26-menu including starter + main or main + dessert, or a €34-menu including starter + main + dessert.

At dinner and lunch, you can get the 3-course menu for €45 including a starter, a main course and a dessert. We went for the delicious beetroot buttara in sorbet and julienne, served with mint/basil pesto and raspberry vinaigrette. Creamy and sour at the same time, burrata wonderfully pairs beetroot and pesto shakes things up. Add to this some crunchy almonds and this is fabulous.

Have the Tendrement oeuf, low-temperature baked egg with smoked haddock and celery, topped with diced parmesan and tarragon.

Then, we got the "Généreusement maigre", aka stone bass cooked over plancha served with miso-roasted eggplant, eggplant caviar, spinach with brown butter and a meunière emulsion with roasted hazelnuts. The fish was cooked to perfection. The dish was crunchy, crispy, very indulging, and what a great discovery!

And get the Steack Aubergine. Some very smooth eggplant in several ways. Smoked, smooth, crunchy, topped with tzatziki and piperade condiment, we love.

Last but not least, we got the deconstructed fruity cheesecake with fresh strawberries and candied rhubarb, served with strawberry sorbet, cheesecake mousse and Japanese basil.

What a great discovery we highly recommend. The restaurant opens from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday. Come to have lunch from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., to enjoy fresh nectars and homemade cocktails, as well as sweet treats from 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., and dinner from 7 to 10:15 p.m., last order. And a little bird told be an affordable €18 teatime is being considered...
