For pastry lovers, Jean François Piège is taking us to the Piège with his sweet treats by opening Gâteaux Thoumieux, his new Paris boutique. Just a stone's throw from his restaurants in the 7th arrondissement, come and melt with happiness as you try kouign-amann, Saint-Dominique or Chou Chou.

Argh, the pastries are conspiring to make us crave them! It's physiologically necessary to burn calories in cold weather. After Ciryl Lignac's Pâtisseries, Christophe Adam 's and Christophe Michalak's, Jean-François Piège has decided to catch us in his net.

Gâteaux Thoumieux, that's the name of the new patisserie that opened this November 20, 2013, 58 rue Saint Dominique in Paris 7e, just a stone's throw from its restaurants.

To run the place, Jean-François Piège chose pastry chef Ludovic Chaussard, who had previously worked with him at Alain Ducasse. Ludovic has an impressive track record in France (Fauchon, Morand, Grand Hôtel de Paris) and abroad (Greece, Las Vegas), and was previously sous-chef pâtissier at the legendary Tour d'Argent in the 5th arrondissement.

For the venue, Jean François Piège enlisted the talents of interior architect India Madhavi. For Gateaux Thoumieux, she imagined a boudoir-style décor in pastel colors. A modern, elegant decor combining soft green, marble and oak wood.

When it comes to pastries, the chefs have opted for classic, easily identifiable desserts. Alongside traditional viennoiseries and pastries, Ludovic Chaussard and his team also offer a fine selection of seasonal tarts and travel cakes.

The store's signature cake? The Saint-Dominique, of course. A sort of mix between sugar bread and soft brioche, enhanced by a duo of creams in the middle and sprinkled with brown sugar, it's a real delight to discover.

Then there's the Kouign Amann, the lemon sablé, the Chou Chou (a cabbage with another cabbage inside), the roasted coffee éclair, the Sahertochte passion, the tarte tropézienne and the chef's famous baba.

In short, there's no end to your visits. And for savoury eaters, note that the store offers refined baguette sandwiches for lunch.

To be enjoyed at any time!
