Every year, the Journées du Patrimoine (Heritage Days ) kick off the new cultural season with an unmissable highlight: the discovery of France's most beautiful treasures. This year, the date is set for the weekend of September 20 and 21, 2025. Numerous museums, monuments, châteaux and other cultural sites in Paris and the Paris region will be opening their doors to you free of charge, offering a wide range of events, guided tours and exhibitions.
Whether you're a family member, a friend, a couple or on your own, this major cultural event is a must. And with good reason: there's something for everyone! In 2025, the focus is on a unifying theme: " Architectural Heritage ".
In 2025, a number of new features are on the program, and the must-sees are still present. You can visit emblematic sites such as the Palais de l'Élysée, government ministries, theInstitut de France or even the backstage area of Galeries Lafayette, often inaccessible outside of these days.
This year, we invite you to explore our heritage from all angles, in all its richness. History buffs can look forward to in-depth guided tours of historic monuments, while those curious about contemporary architecture will be delighted to discover recent buildings that contribute to the region's dynamism. This year also marks the 100th anniversary of Art Deco, and more specifically of the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes. This special heritage is therefore highlighted during the JEP.
The 2025 program also promises to be festive, with participatory workshops, art exhibitions and free open-air concerts. You can also sign up for urban walks to discover Paris's secret neighborhoods. Several routes are proposed in the Marais, Montmartre and Belleville, to explore the history and anecdotes of these places steeped in memory.
