The Departement des Hauts-de-Seine provides you with four themed events for the 2022 edition of the Grandes Heures de Sceaux.
Dedicated to the history of the hot-air balloon, the June 24-26 weekend returns on the debuts of the air conquest.
Flying like birds was a dream men could not reach for a while. Over the centuries, many bold attempts turned into catastrophes until the moment the Montgolfier brothers – using the rising properties of hot air – design an aircraft named after them: the “Montgolfière” in French or hot-air balloon in English. After experimentations with a sheep, a chicken and a duck, a first inhabited flight occurs in 1783, marking the debuts of the air conquest.
For a weekend, admire a copy of the very first 1783 hot-air balloon and enjoy a stationary flight 98.42 feet in the air. Delight your ears to the concert by the Orchestre d’harmonie de la musique de l’air, and take part in plenty of workshops for children and adults.
You can also enjoy a special evening by attending a conference returning on the hot-air balloon history, followed by a picnic and the screening of “Five Weeks in a Balloon” based on the eponymous novel by Jules Verne.
