On Saturday, December 5, 2026, from 6:30 p.m., residents of Argenteuil are invited to see Avenue Gabriel-Péri in a new light—or rather, under new lights! After several months of construction, the thoroughfare is unveiling its new look at the inauguration of the Gabriel-Péri Canopy. And to celebrate the transformation in style, the city has planned a colorful program, including a fireworks display launched from the Hôtel de Ville park.

But the festivities don’t stop with a few sparks! A festive torchlight procession invites visitors to make their way through the town to the Conservatory Park, where another light show awaits. This time, Claude Monet’s works come to life on the Conservatory’s façade, thanks to projections paying tribute to the celebrated Impressionist painter, who died on December 5 exactly 100 years ago. A nod to the artist who immortalized Argenteuil in so many paintings!

And since Avenue Gabriel-Péri is also in the spotlight, an exhibition traces its history, from its construction in the 1960s to its recent transformation. Photographs and personal accounts reveal just how far this gateway to the city has come as it embarks on a new chapter.

Christmas is about much more than Paris’s grand boulevards! For a dazzling opening featuring illuminations, fireworks and heritage, head to Argenteuil on December 5. This year, the city is set to put on a spectacular show!
