On Saturday, November 28, 2026, the town kicks off its Christmas lights with a free evening themed around a classic British whodunit. To kick off the festivities, the city has planned a gourmet Tea Time, featuring a Christmas tea specially created with Thés Dattner. A very British start to the evening, before moving on to the main event: the lights!

From 5 p.m. until 9 p.m., the Balise 77 association will offer a walk through the streets of Fontainebleau in search of glowing fireflies. It’s an unusual hunt for tiny glimmers of light, and participants will need to register on the website. Curious visitors would therefore be well advised to plan their investigation in advance.

And what about the entertainment? A parade will wind its way through the streets before making its way to Place de la République, accompanied by songs performed by the Municipal Conservatory choir. The highlight of the evening will, of course, be the lighting of the 10-meter-tall Christmas tree, which will stand proudly on the square throughout the holiday season. The light displays will continue until 7 p.m., with the city offering a complimentary drink.

The festive magic will continue into December, notably with the Fontainebleau Christmas market from December 11 to 13, and another festive parade scheduled for Saturday, December 12.
