January 6th marks the celebration of Epiphany! A day that food lovers are eager to celebrate by indulging in one of the many King Cakes crafted by local pastry chefs. Whether traditional or creative, the galette is sure to excite your taste buds with its rich almond filling and golden crust.
For those still undecided on where to sample the renowned King Cake, annual competitions are held across the Île-de-France region, showcasing the best almond-filled galettes from each department.
After the Greater Paris, the Essonne, the Yvelines, and the Val-d’Oise, it’s now Seine-et-Marne’s turn to unveil its top bakeries. On December 9th, the Seine-et-Marne Bakery House announced the results of its 2026 Best Almond King Cake Competition. After tasting, smelling, and examining numerous entries, the jury awarded the top prize to Aux 4 Épis in La Ferté-sous-Jouarre. The bakery took home the title of Best Almond King Cake in Seine-et-Marne for 2026, in the “Business” category.
In second place, we have the bakery Aux 2 Épis located in Saint-Jean-les-Deux-Jumeaux. The Moulin de Chessy takes third place on the podium. Keep in mind, these award-winning artisanal galettes will be available to enjoy starting January 2026.
