National reconfinement: the new measures detailed by the Castex government

Last night, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron announced what many feared: the implementation of a national reconfinement from Thursday, October 29, 2020, midnight. Objective? To curb the spread of the coronavirus throughout the territory. A minimum duration of four weeks is planned, until December 1, 2020.

But then, how exactly does the implementation of this new kind of reconfinement take place? If derogations are possible and must be justified by certificates, the government said more this Thursday, October 29, 2020. The Prime Minister Jean Castex indeed details the terms of application of this national reconfinement.

At this new press conference, the head of the executive is not alone, since he was surrounded by the Ministers of Health, Olivier Véran and Jean-Michel Blanquer, Minister of National Education. After paying tribute to the families of the victims of the Nice attack that occurred a few hours earlier, the Prime Minister sought to provide details on the measures to come.

• Containment deployed throughout the country except for the French overseas departments and territories

• Obligatory exit certificate for work, shopping, medical reasons, family reasons, legal summons

• Mandatory proof for home-to-work and home-to-school trips

• Physical activity only outdoors, 1 hour maximum within a radius of 1km from home and alone

• Travel between regions prohibited, tolerance for return from All Saints' Day vacations

• Internal borders open, non-EU closed, arrival and departure tests

• Public transportation open, service levels maintained

• Health protocol reinforced in schools
