The rights of women remain an ongoing battle that needs to be fought daily. On the occasion of the International Women's Rights Day, several associations and union organizations are calling for a feminist strike. Demonstrators are encouraged to participate in "a strike from work, domestic chores, and consumer activities," and to take to the streets to join various social movements organized on this Sunday, March 8, 2026.
This strike is a reminder of the battles still to be fought, and a warning of the injustices that women still have to face. At the heart of the demonstrators' concerns are the growing attacks on women's rights around the world, particularly in countries where wars and extremists are coming to power. The collective also warns of the rise of theextreme right in France and Europe.
The demonstration is also a reminder of women's precarious position in the job market, as well as wage inequalities, given that " women account for 62% of those paid the minimum wage and 70% of food bank beneficiaries ", points out the Grève féministe collective.
Continuing with its feminist strike call, the group is demanding fairer pensions for women and the cancellation of pension reform. They are also calling for improved healthcare services and are urging the government to “implement concrete measures to combat all forms of sexist and sexual violence”.
The Feminist Strike coalition, along with several organizations endorsing the call to protest—including CGT, Attac France, FSU, and Le Planning Familial—are calling for a general strike and mobilization on March 8, 2026. In Paris, the demonstration will set off at 2 p.m. from Place de la Bataille de Stalingrad in the 19th arrondissement, heading toward Place de la République in the 11th arrondissement. Starting at 11 a.m., a feminist village will be established at Stalingrad Square.
