How about showing our strong and hearty support—not only on International Women's Day, but every other day of the year too, of course—for the women who run restaurants in Paris, whoareoftenunderrepresentedand overlooked?
Now, we can already see some of you taking offense at such an article, wondering "why highlight only restaurants run by women?" and arguing that "a similar article dedicated solely to male chefs would be unthinkable." That's precisely the point: to shine a spotlight on these women, whether they are well-known or not, who devote their lives to the complicated profession of cooking and who, because of this, have to fight even harder than their male counterparts.
Far be it from us to compile this list to widen the gap between women and men—quite the contrary. It is intended to highlight the importance and necessity of diversity in the world of gastronomy, which is only possible if female chefs are finally recognized for their true worth.
Here is a brief overview of restaurants run by female chefs in Paris, to give them all the strength and support they need at a time when they represent just over 5% of Michelin Guide award winners.
