Line 14 users thought they were rid of the problem, but it's not to be. Extended to the north and then to the south since June 24, line 14 will once again be disrupted by construction work. In a press release published on November 26, RATP announced that the modernization work would continue until 2025.
" Line 14 has reached a major milestone with the opening of the extension to Saint-Denis - Pleyel and Aéroport d'Orly," indicated the Régie Autonome des Transports Parisiens, adding that this work should enable " additional functionalities of the new system to be tested in real-life conditions to make it even more efficient ".
As a result, " the complete modernization of line 14 and its control system still requires work and testing ". As these tests must be carried out " outside passenger traffic ", RATP has no choice but to close line 14 completely on several occasions over the coming weeks.
So what's the timetable for these upcoming closures? When will line 14 be inaccessible again? Until July 2025, line 14 will be closed on certain Wednesdays from 10 p.m. on May 21, 2025; June 4, 11, 18 and 25, 2025; and July 2, 9, 16 and 23, 2025. Traffic will also be interrupted all day on Friday May 30 and Saturday May 31, 2025, Sunday June 15, 2025 and Sunday June 29, 2025.
Lastly, line 14 will be closed for 5 days this summer, from August 4 to 8, 2025 inclusive,"to enable the entire train control system to be upgraded to its definitive version".
To help passengers with their journey, RATP points out that several alternative routes are available, starting with a replacement bus running between Gare de Lyon and Olympiades stations. Another possibility? Noctilien buses in service every night.
The extension of line 14 was inaugurated on June 24, enabling passengers to reachOrly airport from Saint-Denis - Pleyel in just 40 minutes.
