You'll soon be able to watch a magnificent partial solar eclipse, in Paris and all over France! On the morning of March 29, 2025, from 11.03 a.m . to 12.59 p.m., the Moon will obstruct the Sun for several minutes, but not entirely. For a true total eclipse, when our luminous star disappears in its entirety, we'll have to wait a little longer, even if the 2026 eclipse is almost complete. If Europe is lucky enough to be affected by this eclipse, only around 23.5% of the Sun will be occulted in France.
Don't forget to protect your eyes on this occasion, as looking at our sun in the face, even during an eclipse, can burn the retina irreversibly. So, to make the most of this partial eclipse, wear a pair of protective glasses, which you can buy from a chemist or optician for three euros. Normal sunglasses are not enough: you need a special filter.
If the eclipse begins around 11 a.m., the maximum will occur at 12 p.m. Unlike an annular eclipse, where you can see a ring of light, a partial eclipse reveals a luminous crescent in the sky, with a quarter of the Sun!
