The second busiest line on the Paris metro, after line 1, line 4 of the RATP network links the north and south of Paris, crossing the heart of the capital via theÎle de la Cité. Although line 4 was originally located entirely within the Paris inner city, it now connects two other towns in the inner suburbs, Montrouge and Bagneux, both in theHauts-de-Seine department (92) of France ( ). It is also the first line in the network to link the left bank of the Seine to the right bank by passing under the Paris river.

From Porte de Clignancourt to the Bagneux - Lucie Aubrac terminus, line 4 of the Paris metro stretches over 14 km and serves 29 stations. It crosses the working-class districts of Paris's 9th, 10th and 18th arrondissements , the center of the capital via Châtelet, Les Halles and Cité, the Latin Quarter and the 14th arrondissement, before reaching the inner suburbs to the south. Line 4 is also the only one to connect all other lines except 3bis and 7bis, and to offer connections with all RER lines. Line 4 also serves three Paris stations: Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est and Gare Montparnasse.

Line 4 of the Paris metro also brings us close to many of the capital's treasures. From the Cité station, you can easily reach the Conciergerie, the Sainte-Chapelle, the Palais de Justice, the quays of the Seine and Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral. This line also takes you toéglise Saint-Sulpice, and not far from Bon Marché, one of Paris's leading department stores. It also takes us to the Saint-Michel and Odéon districts, overlooking the Jardin du Luxembourg and the Panthéon, serves the iconic boulevard Saint-Germain and brings us close to the Paris Catacombs, towards Denfert-Rochereau.
