RATP: Strike on RER A and disruption on RER B this Friday, February 14, 2025

This Friday, February 14, 2025, RER lines A and B will be affected by a strike by RATP drivers. The drivers have called a strike to protest against malfunctions in the new scheduling and leave management tool, and are calling on management to rectify the bugs as quickly as possible. What impact will this have on traffic? We take stock.

This Friday, February 14, 2025, RER lines A and B will be disrupted due to a strike by RATP drivers on the one hand, and roadworks on the other.

The RER department's La Base and FO-RATP unions have issued strike notice for this day. Some 870 train drivers and their representatives have been complaining for several weeks about malfunctions in the scheduling software. A "social alarm" was triggered on Monday, but no agreement was reached. RATP has indicated that only 2 out of 3 trains will run on the RER A this Friday.

This mobilization comes at a time when maintenance work is also scheduled on these lines, leading to service interruptions and timetable changes. In addition to this industrial action, major disruptions are expected on Friday on lines B, D, H and K, due to the replacement of a railway bridge at Saint-Denis. The SNCF and the regional prefecture recommend avoiding transit via the Gare du Nord on this day.

RER B: interconnection suspended at Gare du Nord over Easter weekend
Due to major works to replace the Saint-Denis railway bridge, disruptions are expected on the RER B over the Easter weekend, from Saturday April 19 to Monday April 21, 2025 inclusive. Interconnection will once again be suspended for three consecutive days at Gare du Nord. [Read more]

From February 14 to 17, major works will significantly reduce traffic on the RER B and D lines, the H and K lines, and the Paris-Laon and Paris-Beauvais TER trains. The RER B and D interconnection will be suspended at Gare du Nord, and no RER D will run between Paris-Gare du Nord and Paris-Gare de Lyon. As a result, metro line 4 will be heavily used between Châtelet and Gare du Nord.

A word of advice: make sure you plan your journeys well in advance, and regularly check the information provided by RATP and SNCF for real-time traffic conditions. Alternative solutions, such as carpooling or using other public transport lines, can be considered to limit the inconvenience caused by these disruptions.
