Summer 2025 work on Transilien lines: closure dates and interrupted lines

Every summer, the RATP and SNCF carry out their traditional works, as the people of Ile-de-France head off on vacation. On the metro side, eight lines will be interrupted over the summer, while on the Transilien side, six will be affected! We take a look at the lines concerned.

Like every year, the SNCF takes advantage of the summer period to carry out major works on its Transilien lines, taking advantage of the drop in ridership. In 2025, several lines will be particularly affected, with total or partial interruptions to traffic, often on evenings or weekends. These changes are necessary to modernize infrastructure, improve network reliability and prepare for the arrival of new rolling stock, but they often annoy users!

Especially as the metro and RER are particularly affected this summer! So you'll need to plan ahead, anticipating line closures to find alternative solutions. In general, replacement buses and itineraries are proposed to those who use these lines on a daily basis, to limit inconvenience. Lines concerned

Line H

In the Bruyères-sur-Oise sector, SNCF Réseau is modernizing the railway infrastructure by renewing switches and tracks.

Weeknights: June 9 to August 1
2 continuous weekends: June 28/29 and July 5/6

Lines L and J

Located in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, the Souverains railway bridge dates back to 1868, and part of its deck needs to be replaced. To limit the worksite footprint and free up tracks for Paris Saint-Lazare trains, the new decks will be installed from beneath the bridge, from the RER C tunnel.

Friday August 1 to Tuesday August 12

Line J

Track and ballast maintenance and renewal work will be carried out in the vicinity of the Bois Colombes and Argenteuil stations, to enhance network reliability.

Weeknights: August 11 to September 6
Continuous weekend August 30 - 31

Line K

A railway bridge dating back to 1894 is currently being replaced at Saint-Denis, on the Northern Paris axis. This is the 3rd stage of the project: following the installation of the support structures in autumn 2024 and the launching of the new bridge in February, work is now focusing on the installation of the new track, catenary and rail signalling systems.

The old bridge will be dismantled from July 12 to 14.

A final shutdown scheduled for August 15-17 will restore rail signalling and traffic on lines K and B (in a disrupted situation) on the bridge.

Line P

At Vaires-sur-Marne, 4 switches will be replaced on line P.

Weeknights: June 30 - August 22
During three continuous weekends: July 19 - 20, July 26 - 27 and August 2 - 3

The second project will be carried out at La Ferté Milon, where 17 km of rails will be renewed:

4 weeks, Monday to Sunday, non-stop from July 15 to August 9

Between Verneuil-l'Etang and Longueville, 13 km of track will be replaced by a factory train called "BOA".

Monday to Friday nights, from May 19 to August 23.

R line

This summer, work will focus on Livry-sur-Seine, where track and ballast will be replaced. Some work remains to be done, notably on the platform at Fontaine le Port.

Disruptions from Monday to Friday between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., from July 21 to August 29 and continuously on the weekends of August 9 - 10 and August 16 - 17.

The Villeneuve Saint-Georges Technicentre is undergoing a major transformation. Work is underway to construct new buildings and accesses to the north and south of the site.

At night, from Monday to Friday, until the end of 2025 and every weekday evening, the stations between Maisons Alfort - Alfortville and Villeneuve Triage are not served in both directions.
