The Île-Saint-Denis bridge, used by the T1 tramway line, will not reopen beforesummer 2026, and for good reason: it was struck by a cruise ship in mid-May 2025. The collision took place on May 15: since then, traffic on the Île-Saint-Denis bridge has been closed to cars and streetcars. Pedestrians and cyclists can still use the latter, provided they walk or make the detour.
The cruise ship collided with the central deck and damaged a beam supporting the structure, necessitating year-long repair work. In the collision, the boat took nearly three metres of metal from one of the seven arches supporting it. Buses, streetcars and cars will therefore beunable to travel on the Île-de-Saint-Denisbridge for at least twelve months, meaning longer journey times for all users and residents. With the inauguration of the Louafi Boughera bridge after the Paris 2024 Games, Île-Saint-Denis will have four bridges (the Saint-Ouen bridge, the Epinay bridge to the north of the island and the Île-Saint-Denis bridge): for the time being, only three will actually be used in the coming year.
