Emmaüs Bougival and Emmaüs Longjumeau will be sellingschool supplies, notebooks and binders at rock-bottom prices. From Saturday August 23 to August 30, the Community is holding its traditional back-to-school sale, with prices set at a third of those charged by supermarkets. Families flocked to the opening of the sale to take advantage of the opportunity to lighten their back-to-school budget considerably.
The range is particularly varied, with notebooks, pens, felt-tips, binders and other essential supplies on offer for as little asone euro. Monique, who has been in charge of the stationery department as a volunteer for over ten years, explains that fourteen pallets of goods have been transported from the Chatou collection site. The items come from private and corporate donations collected throughout the year.
Each product is rigorously inspected before it goes on sale. Items are cleaned, labeled and individually checked. Pens and felt-tips are tested to ensure they work properly. This attention to detail means that we can offer items that are new or in perfect condition.
Naturally, price remains the main attraction for families. Anne, a kindergarten teacher in Chatou who came to equip her son Nathan for his entry into CP, testifies to the evolution of consumer habits in the Paris region. Second-hand has become a common practice in her circle, gradually replacing systematic purchases in new stores.
Beyond the economic aspect, the solidarity and ecological dimension appeals to buyers. Perrine, a resident of Port-Marly, regularly combines textile donations and purchases for her daughters Alice and Valentine. This virtuous circulation of goods enables everyone to participate in a local circular economy, while making substantial savings.
The Communauté Emmaüs Bougival, located at 7 Lieu-dit Île de la Loge in Port-Marly, is keeping extended opening hours for this operation. Sales take place Monday to Friday from 2pm to 5:30pm, on Wednesdays from 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 5:30pm, and on Saturdays from 10am to 5:30pm. Emmaüs Longjumeau, located at 8 avenue de l'Abbé-Pierre, is open from 8am to 11:30am and from 2pm to 5:30pm.
Stocks are replenished daily to guarantee a constant choice until the end of the operation. Latecomers can still take advantage of this opportunity to equip their children before the start of the 2025 school year.
Here's a good plan for smart equipment when money's tight at back-to-school time!
