Ganesh festival in Paris: parking restrictions in the 10th and 18th arrondissements

It's party time this weekend in northeastern Paris! Every year at the end of August, the Ganesh Festival takes over several streets in the La Chapelle district, and more specifically those around the Sri Manicka Vinayakar Alayam temple, the largest Hindu temple in France. On this day, a pedestrian procession is organized through the streets of the district. This year's event takes place on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

But in order to " best ensure the safety of people and property ", the Préfecture de police de Paris has published a decree temporarily modifying parking in several lanes in the 10th and 18th arrondissements of the capital. So, what are these restrictions? What can we expect in north-east Paris this August 31? We answer.

In detail, on August 31 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the parking of " any vehicle " with a motor is forbidden in several lanes and portions of lanes " forming the route of the procession ", namely:

  • rue Pajol, between n°17 rue Pajol and rue Philippe de Girard,
  • rue Philippe de Girard, between place Paul Eluard and boulevard de la Chapelle,
  • rue Perdonnet, in its entirety,
  • rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, between boulevard de la Chapelle and rue Demarquay,
  • rue Max-Dormoy, between boulevard de la Chapelle and rue Ordener,
  • Place Paul Eluard.

In its order, the Paris Prefecture of Police specifies that " vehicles used to commit these offences may be immobilized and impounded ".
