Your journey by metro or RER could be complicated today: public transport in Paris is being disrupted by industrial action organized in the capital this Wednesday, September 10, 2025. The nationwide strike has brought citizens onto the streets of the capital, causing inconvenience for motorists and RATP network users alike.
For security reasons, certain metro and RER stations may be closed during the day or evening, by order of the Préfecture de police. These stations are usually located along the route of the demonstration, or close to where demonstrators are gathering.
This September 10, 2025, the Châtelet, Châtelet - Les Halles and Les Halles stations, located in the heart of Paris, are affected by this closure. The three stations are closed to the public, and are not served by the various lines that usually stop there. RATP warns that traffic may be disrupted on metro lines 1, 4, 7, 11 and 14, as well as RER lines A and B. The public transport company is advising users to take alternative routes, if they have to get off or change at any of these stations.
The Châtelet station is a major central hub in Paris, where numerous metro and RER lines meet. As a result, the metro corridors and platforms at Châtelet are almost always packed with travelers, both tourists and locals. Châtelet station is known as a huge underground labyrinth: its corridors link the banks of the Seine to the Halles district.
The closure of this major intersection could therefore cause major disruption to the Paris transport network. To prepare your next journey, consult our theme guides and the official RATP website.
