Crowded trains, packed metro platforms and bus stops, and multiple delays... Taking public transportation in Paris and the Île-de-France region is often a source of stress for many users. And that's not to mention the numerous construction projects that disrupt train service. In the coming months, Île-de-France residents who use public transportation will not be spared. This was announced by Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) at a press conference held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. In order to help users plan their journeys as effectively as possible, IDFM has detailed the schedule of upcoming construction work and service interruptions on the metro, RER, and Transilien networks.
Several projects will therefore be undertaken underground to preparefor the arrival of the new-generation MF19metro, but also to carry out station renovation work and replace rails and catenaries. The consequences? Users will have to adapt to new partial or total service interruptions on weekends, weekdays, during the day, and in the evening. Some stations will be out of service for several months. This is the case for the République station on metro line 8. This station, which is heavily used by passengers, is due for renovation and will be closed for nine consecutive months, more preciselybetween July 22, 2026, and April 2027. Please note that République station will only be inaccessible on line 8. Trains on the other metro lines that serve République, namely lines 3, 5, 9, and 11, will continue to stop at this station.
However, on metro line 8, passengers will have to adapt for nine months and find alternative routes or get off at the stations before or after.
IDFM has also announced that service on metro line 8 will be suspended between Balard and Concorde during the summer, from August 20 to 27, 2026. The goal? To carry out adaptation work to allow for the arrival of the MF19.
