The RoissyBus, which has connected the Opéra to Charles de Gaulle Airport for 30 years, will disappear in March 2026. Île-de-France Mobilités is replacing it with line 9517 via Saint-Denis-Pleyel, promising faster journeys thanks to connections with lines 13, 14, and the RER D.

The end of the RoissyBus marks a turning point for travelers who have been using this airport shuttle for more than three decades. From March 1, 2026, this direct link between the Opéra stop in the 9th arrondissement of Paris andParis-Charles-de-Gaulle airport will be permanently removed from theÎle-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) network. Afterthe Orlybus, it is now the turn of this iconic line to bow out. The reason given by IDFM? Recurring traffic jams on the A1 and difficulties accessing central Paris, which regularly penalize users.

However, the discontinuation of the RoissyBus does not mean the end of bus connections to Roissy. A new line, called 9517, will take over with a redesigned route that should make travel smoother. Unlike its predecessor, this line will pass through Saint-Denis-Pleyel, offering new connections with several Paris metro lines and the RER D. According to IDFM, this change in route promises significant time savings.

How long does it take to get to Charles de Gaulle from Paris?

Travel time is the main argument put forward by IDFM to justify this reorganization. Currently, the RoissyBus takes between 1 hour and 1 hour 20 minutes on average to reach the airport from the Opéra, depending on traffic conditions. The new 9517 line, operated by Transdev, promises to do better by reducing the journey time to 50 minutes or a maximum of 1 hour and 10 minutes from central Paris. To take advantage of this time saving, however, you will need to take metro line 14 to Saint-Denis-Pleyel before catching the 9517 bus. This configuration avoids the traffic jams on the A1 that regularly paralyze traffic.

What connections are there with the new bus to Roissy?

The strength of this new line lies in its multiple connection options. At Saint-Denis-Pleyel, travelers can easily switch from line 13 (often crowded but very extensive), the brand new line 14(fast and automatic), or the RER D, which serves several strategic points in the capital. This interconnection greatly facilitates access to the airport from various Parisian neighborhoods and the inner suburbs.

In the longer term, line 9517 will be fully integrated into the Grand Paris Express network, with connections planned to the future lines 15, 16, and 17. This ambitious project is set to profoundly transform mobility in the Île-de-France region and further facilitate access to the region's airports.

The RER B and the CDG Express: what other options are there?

There are already other options available to travelers wishing to reach Charles de Gaulle. The RER B remains the most economical option, even though this line is regularly disrupted and journey times vary depending on the stops. Le Bus Direct (formerly Cars Air France) buses also continue to provide paid connections from several points in Paris.

The arrival of the CDG Express in 2027 will be a game changer for travelers in a hurry. This direct rail link between Gare de l'Est and Roissy promises a journey time of just 20 minutes, with no intermediate stops. This premium service will complement the existing offering and meet the needs of both business travelers and tourists looking for speed.

In short, if you're looking for the best way to get to Roissy, we recommend trying out the new 9517 line as soon as it launches, as it should really change the game in terms of comfort and speed. In the meantime, the RoissyBus will continue to operate until March 2026, so take advantage of it one last time to say goodbye to this shuttle that has left its mark on generations of travelers.
