Since 2010, the Queer Palm has been awarded during the Cannes Film Festival, by an independent jury to a film "dealing with LGBT+ or feminist themes or characters, or challenging gender norms".
Chaired by French filmmaker Christophe Honoré, this year's jury included composer and performer Léonie Pernet, director and screenwriter Marcelo Caetano, programmer Faridah Gbadamosi and journalist Timé Zoppé.
A total of16 feature-length films, as well as shorts in all categories, were in the running this year for the precious queer award, including Lucio Castro's stunning Drunken Noodles, Julia Kowalski'sQue ma volonté soit faite, Thierry Klifa'sLa Femme la plus riche du monde, Julia Ducournau'sAlpha and Robin Campillo and Laurent Cantet'sEnzo.
The overall winner of the Queer Palm 2025 is Hafsia Herzi's beautiful film La Petite Dernière. In official competition, the film is still in the running for the Palme d'Or.
Synopsis: Fatima, 17, is the youngest daughter. She lives in the suburbs with her sisters, in a happy, loving family. A good student, she joins a philosophy university in Paris and discovers a whole new world. As she begins her life as a young woman, she emancipates herself from her family and its traditions. Fatima begins to question her identity. How can she reconcile her faith with her budding desires?
As for the Queer Palm 2025 for short films, the winner was the Franco-Philippine film Bleat! by Ananth Subramaniam.
