The Cannes Film Festival has revealed who will take on the role of President of the Un Certain Regard jury, the parallel section that champions bold, early-career cinema in search of new formal directions. After British director, screenwriter and director of photography Molly Manning Walker last year, this year it’s French actress Leïla Bekhti who will assume the role.
She will be joined by producer Angèle Diabang, composer Khaled Mouzanar, director Laura Samani and director Thomas Cailley. Together, they will be responsible for screening the 19 films in selection for Un Certain Regard in order to award the prizes.
For the first time as President of the Jury, I will sit in this unique position: to watch, to listen, to share, to celebrate. Making cinema has taught me that films are meeting places – with others, with oneself, with the world. Discovering them alongside a jury, experiencing this timeless moment, is both a responsibility and a joy. I look forward to these intersecting perspectives, these dialogues, and even these doubts, which enrich this living art. And, ultimately, I will be in the most precious seat: that of the audience. said Leïla Bekhti, upon the announcement of her nomination.
