Young filmmaker Louise Courvoisier will unveil her first feature film, Vingt Dieux! at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. Selected in the Un Certain Regard section, it will star Clément Favreau, Luna Garret and Mathis Bernard.
The film tells the story of 18-year-old Totone, who spends most of his time drinking beers and going to balls in the Jura with his gang of friends. But reality catches up with him: he has to look after his 7-year-old sister and find a way to earn a living. So he sets out to make the best Comté cheese in the region, one that will win him the gold medal at the Concours Agricole and 30,000 euros.
"There is not a provincial cinema, but a French cinema outside Paris, and this is the case with Vingt Dieux, Louise Courvoisier's first film. You'll learn all about the making of the county, even if it's a fiction film! She won the Cinéfondation for her short school film, and we're delighted to welcome her for her first feature," declared Thierry Frémaux at the press conference on April 11.
