What a pleasure to see Laetitia Dosch back at Cannes 2024, not just in front of the camera, but behind it too! TheFranco-Swiss actress will unveil her first film, Le Procès du chien, in the Un Certain Regard selection. She will play the lead role, alongside a choice cast: François Damiens, Bouli Lanners and Jean-Pascal Zadi .
The film tells the story of Avril, a young animal rights lawyer who will do anything to save her client, a recidivist dog, from the death penalty. Between a belief in justice and growing difficulties in coping with human contempt for animals, it's this dog that helps Avril come to terms with her human complexity.
"The Swiss actress directs her first film, a comedy. It's the story of a dog on trial, in a world where more and more people want to question the law for one reason or another. Its title doesn't really sum it up, but it's a film full of wonderful things," announced Thierry Frémaux on April 11, 2024, at the festival press conference.
