During an exceptional live presentation by Avalanche Software, Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy showed itself a little more this Friday, November 11, revealing new information on the customization of its avatar and on the gameplay of the fights, but also an exploration of the wizarding school... What are these announcements? We take a look at them!

Notice toHarry Potter fans eagerly awaiting Hogwarts Legacy: The Hogwarts Legacy! Avalanche Software, developer of the video game, made a new presentation of the software published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Portkey Games this Friday, November 11, 2022. And what a presentation! On the program, a lot of announcements about the gameplay and about the customization of his avatar! And as a bonus, an unprecedented visit of Hogwarts!

Hogwarts Legacy allows for extensive character customization, but relatively limited

So, what are these announcements worth? Let's start with character customization: first you have to choose between different facial styles, then choose to change the details of the face or not. Cheek density, chin, nose size, glasses... The interface seems to allow quite a lot of stuff, even if the customization seems less advanced than some games, like Cyberpunk 2077. You also have the possibility to choose your haircut, as well as its color.

Note that once you've chosen your character, there's no going back, but you can still change your haircut and color at a hairdresser in Hogsmeade. Graphically speaking, the details seem quite precise and particularly well done, as you can see in the presentation. You also have the possibility to add scars, change your eyebrows and the color of your eyes.

To perfect your character, you can choose his voice and change the tone, give him a first and last name, and choose his gender, i.e. whether he is a wizard or a witch. It is also on this interface that you choose the difficulty of the game.

A little tour of Hogwarts Castle...

Concerning the visit of the castle, the presentation offered us a nice view of the Hufflepuff common room, the hall with the hourglasses of each house, the courtyard of the viaduct, the room of Defense against the Forces of Evil, the courtyard of the clock tower or the bridge leading to the hut of the gamekeeper.

Concerning the graphics, from what we could see, the game is nice, pleasant for the eyes and the scenery is particularly detailed... The whole thing really makes you want to wander around for hours looking for the slightest secret. Note that the castle will serve as a hub, where you will learn new spells and unlock new missions - except those outside the castle, of course.

And what about the combat in this Hogwarts Legacy?

In total, as the video explains, 20 spells can be learned, with four of them selected and appearing on the screen, to be cast with the R2 button, the others can be used contextually. These spells can be learned in class or via several students, and will allow you, once unlocked, to access different missions previously inaccessible.

As for the fights, you will be able to learn and train on the first floor of the Clock Tower, with a Gryffindor student - a duel organizer under the nose and beard of the teachers - who will explain to you how the fights work, first on a training dummy, then on students who want to duel you. To cast a spell, all you have to do is press a key (R2 for the PS5), then perform combos with a combination of keys (R1+ square, round, cross or triangle depending on the spell selected on the spell "wheel".

We were also shown how to break the Shield Charm. To do this, you need to use a spell of the same color as the opponent's force field, then simply attack him with your various attack and combo spells(Accio, Leviosa, Stupefix, etc.)

What about the counter-attack? Note the presence of a halo around your character's head, a kind of sixth sense that allows you to know when your enemy is attacking and when to send the spell back, with a shield charm, for example. Also note that each spell has its own identity, and changes according to your approach.

What about the rest?

You can also take on challenges, via a grimoire - which serves as your menu interface - offered by the Ministry of Magic to help you catch up on your level in fifth grade. Note that although some of the characters mention it, you won't be able to play chess or wizard chess. And for the rest, you'll have to wait! As a reminder, Hogwarts Legacy: The Hogwarts Legacy will be released on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series on February 10, 2023 (and on Nintendo Switch a little later). We can't wait!
