Quiz Room launches La Taupe, an immersive quiz game where participants must answer questions while unmasking the "Mole" hiding among them. A fun and strategic experience to discover right now.

A game riding on the wave of The Werewolf of Thiercelieux and Traitors... Quiz Room unveils La Taupe, a brand-new immersive quiz concept, available from now on in its centers in France. The game offers an experience combining speed, popular culture and strategy, where participants must answer questions while conducting an investigation to unmask one of the players, the "Mole", who is trying to cover his tracks. Accessible to all, this interactive and convivial format is ideal for outings with friends or family.

Inspired by the mechanics of role-playing games such as Les Loups-Garous de Thiercelieux, La Taupe introduces a new dynamic to the world of quiz games. One player is given a key role, and over the course of four rounds, interactions intensify: accusations, bluffing and strategy punctuate the experience. The aim is twofold: to answer the questions correctly while identifying the Mole hiding among the participants. Charles Babinet, co-founder of Quiz Room, explains: " The Mole is a mix of quiz and role-playing game. When we designed the game, we wanted to take the basics of the Original Quiz and add a dimension of investigation and bluffing.

With a session lasting around an hour, La Taupe is aimed at fans of puzzle and strategy games. This customizable experience allows teams of up to 18 participants to test their analytical skills while having fun. Whether it's for an evening out with friends, a company outing or a bachelor party, this fun format aims to provide a moment of interactive entertainment. So, are you ready to unmask the mole?

Our verdict

While the quiz is inspired by the mechanics of games such as Among Us, The Betrayer and Werewolves of Thiercelieux, don't expect this much in the way of role-playing. There are no multiple roles on offer, only that of the mole. Nevertheless, this game mode manages to spice up the session with some interesting mechanics. The session is divided into four rounds, and each time, a mole is drawn at random and automatically given the right answers: the same person can be designated several times, so you can't rely on this to eliminate a potential culprit. Moreover, the game encourages players to develop good strategies, since it's not just a question of unmasking or not being unmasked: for the most competitive players who want to win maximum points, there's a lot to be gained by being the only person to have designated the mole, since those with the sharpest noses win the mole's points: some might not want to share the jackpot. On the other hand, points are awarded to the scapegoat when the same person is accused too often: this sows further doubt or also becomes a strategy. To encourage accusations, the game doesn't shy away from highlighting behaviours that might raise doubts among players. We regret, however, that the difficulty of the questions is not necessarily fair, with some rounds revealing too many easy questions for our liking, and even rendering the mole's advantage null and void.
