While many canoeists and kayakers set off down the Seine for some exciting races, the Parc nautique départemental de l'Île de Monsieur is the place to be for free introductions to paddle sports!

Thanks to L'Odyssée, you'll be able to explore the Seine and its banks from top to bottom, during exceptional events on September 16 and 17, 2023. The ninth edition of the TraverSeine, organized by the Comité départemental de canoë-kayak, invites you to discover paddlesports during initiations, events and fierce competitions on the water, alone or with others, between the Port de Bercy and the Parc nautique départemental de l'Île de Monsieur, in Sèvres.

While on Sunday, the brave paddlers will set off on the river through three courses, on Saturday afternoon, everyone will be able to try their hand at paddleboarding and canoeing, free of charge, for a gentle start. The activities are open to everyone aged 6 and over, as long as they know how to swim! It's a chance to see the Seine from a different angle, in the heart of a veritable island of greenery.

The following day, you're expected to cheer on the sportsmen and women, who'll be taking on either a 15-kilometre leisure course between Paris and the Hauts-de-Seine, a competition course on the same route, or a longer 26-kilometre course, reserved for the more experienced. You're sure to see some great battles, thanks in particular to the large boats and pirogues expected!
