The Traversée de Paris et des Hauts-de-Seine: a 28-km rowing trek on the Seine

On Sunday, September 13, 2026, nearly 1,300 rowers and 250 boats will embark on the 41st edition of the Traversée de Paris et des Hauts-de-Seine in rowing. Organized by the Île-de-France Rowing League, this 28-kilometer rowing trek promises to be just as impressive, with numerous crews setting off from the Sèvres nautical base.

Indeed, it’s one of the few moments each year when navigation on the Seine within Paris is halted to let rowers cross the capital! Foreign nations are represented and the crews have been full for months, from amateur license-holders to seasoned pros, but you can watch them for free, from dry banks along the entire length of the Seine.

An iconic rowing rendezvous in France that lets bold rowers rediscover the Parisian heritage along the Seine, between the Invalides, the Eiffel Tower, the National Assembly, the Quai d’Orsay, Notre-Dame Cathedral and the 33 bridges steeped in history that line the river. If you want to follow from the quays, the outing lasts about three hours, from 7:15 to 10:15, with a 14 km outbound leg and the same distance on the return.

There are still companion passes available to support your loved ones, which include breakfast, lunch, and a souvenir, for 28 euros. Otherwise, you can simply take a spot along the quay to watch them go by without spending a dime!
