French metal was in the spotlight this Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the Bataclan in Paris, on the occasion of Les Foudres. The ceremony, the first of its kind dedicated to French metal, featured several sets, including those by Grandma's Ashes and Revnoir, as well as the presentation of several awards.
For its first edition, Les Foudres handed out no less than 11 awards and a Foudre d'honneur: revelation of the year, album of the year, artist of the year, but also artwork of the year, audiovisual creation of the year or societal and environmental commitment of the year... the suspense was at its height on Thursday evening at Le Bataclan as far as the nominees were concerned.
For this first edition, Gojira, Landmvrks, Sun, Alcest as well as Houle, Mass Hysteria and Last Train were among the potential winners. So, in the end, who was lucky enough to take to the stage to receive a trophy? Gojira walked away with the Foudre for Live Performance of the Year for their concert at the Carcassonne festival this summer, but also with the Foudre d'honneur. Revnoir was named revelation of the year, while the unmissable Hellfest won the Foudre for event of the year. The association More Women on Stage received the Foudre for societal and environmental commitment. And let's not forget Landmvrks, artist of the year and winner of the Foudre for album of the year for"The Darkest Place I've Ever Been".
