For the first time in France, the Opéra Bastille presents Don Giovanni, a classic staged by Claus Guth. Discover Mozart's opera from September 13 to October 12, 2023, with a preview for young people on September 9.

Don Giovanni, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart 's celebrated opera , arrives in Paris in September 2023 . From September 13 to October 12, 2023, this classic production will be staged at theOpéra Bastille. Claus Guth is the director of this opera, which premiered at the Salzburg Festival in 2008.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart 's 1787 masterpiece , first performed in Prague in October of that year, combines the depth of the Don Juan myth with unrivalled musical expression. This opera is one of the most surprising in its ability to blend the tragic and the comic, and thus ranks as one of the Austrian composer's major operas.

The director of this adaptation of the myth, Claus Guth, changes the temporality of the work, offering a new vision of the characters. The character of Don Giovanni, however, remains a wounded animal, a veritable predator on the verge of committing atrocities.

Musical direction is by Alexander Soddy, with Alessandro Di Stefano as head of hearts and Claus Guth as director. The latter was already behind the performances of Bérénice and Jephtha at the Palais Garnier in 2018.

Mozart 's opera Don Giovanni will thus be brought back to life from September 2023, allowing us to rediscover this myth magnificently orchestrated by the composer.
