Can we still trust what we see? The Grand Hall of La Villette seeks to explore this question through an immersive journey blending magic, cognitive science, and connected technology, titled FauxFaire FauxVoir, happening from May 5 to 9, 2026. Created by the Le Phalène troupe, this captivating experience challenges our perceptions, beliefs, and the tools that shape our new realities—much like artificial intelligence.
A magic show conceived by three magicians, this performance takes audiences on a journey through the mind's tricks—featuring sensory manipulations, perception workshops, and mental illusions. The idea: to demonstrate that a "successful illusion isn’t just about skill or misdirection," as explained in a press release. The organizers add: "It thrives on what we believe we know, our personal references, and the shortcuts our brain takes."
The show delves even deeper by exploring how technology impacts "our ways of seeing and believing": artificial intelligence, social media... On stage, these themes transform the performance into "a true laboratory of thought." A magic that also unsettles, "wakes you up, sharpens your gaze." With FauxFaire FauxVoir at La Villette, you'll definitely have doubts, but trust us, it's for your own good!
