Kinky Boots at the Folies Bergère: Cyndi Lauper's musical puts its boots on in Paris

A show that keeps pushing boundaries in every sense of the phrase! Kinky Boots, the famous musical conceived by Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein (with music by Cyndi Lauper), lands in Paris—specifically at the Folies Bergère—starting February 12, 2027 for 60 performances. A musical inspired by the eponymous film, first seen on Broadway and the West End, and taking home six Tony Awards along the way.

In Kinky Boots, we follow the story of Charlie Price, heir to a struggling shoe factory, and Lola, a Drag Queen performing in a cabaret. Two worlds apart, a fateful meeting sends the two leads on a mission to save Price’s faltering business: reinventing the upscale men’s shoemaker as a company that designs flamboyant boots and thigh-highs for the stage. And the aim is clear: the Fashion Week in Milan.

Before you book your seat at the Folies Bergère, a couple of things to know: this is a non-replica French version... what does that mean? It means the staging isn’t an exact copy of the original production. Expect a few subtle differences if you’ve already seen the show or know it inside out. The adaptation is by Julien Baptist, and the direction is by Christopher Lopez. On the casting side, only one name has been revealed so far, that of Lola’s interpreter, here played by Gwendal Marimoutou.

The main draw is catching a Broadway legend without leaving France. Shall we reserve?
