Do you enjoy strolling among the thousand and one orchids in the Grandes Serres of the Jardin des Plantes? Then you're going to love theTropical Autumn stroll. The Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle de Paris is back again this autumn, for a plant walk-exhibition that's as magnificent as ever, and 100% exotic.
From October 16 to November 24, 2025, during the All Saints' vacation and the month of November, discover Tropical Autumn. Palm trees, treasures and secrets: a lively and fantastic plant exhibition. For this 5th edition, the Jardin des Plantes is putting the spotlight on palm trees, plants that have existed for over 100 million years, and are home to an entire ecosystem.
From their natural environment to their ecological, artisanal and symbolic importance, and the uses to which they are put by man, palms are plants in a class of their own. Most of us are familiar with the ones we see on sandy beaches or in Californian towns, but there are several thousand species of palm, each with its own unique characteristics.
Forests, soils and animals all make use of these special plants, as have humans, who for thousands of years have benefited from palm fruit and oil, leaves, fibers and trunks... Populations have fully integrated these plants into their way of life, whether for food, housing, clothing or trade. Palms have multiple uses and benefits for their entire ecosystem.
These plants also have some astonishing peculiarities, which the plant exhibition in the Grandes Serres of the Jardin des Plantes reveals in a family-friendly tour.
This lively experience will delight the curious and plant lovers alike. If the experience makes you want to go green, there's also an ephemeral boutique where you can take a plant home as a souvenir of this enchanted stroll.
In the warmth of the Jardin des Plantes' Grandes Serres, amid lush greenery, we feel transported to faraway and mysterious lands. You can almost hear jungle animals moving in the trees above you... A relaxing experience not to be missed this autumn!
