David Hockney's works come to life during two nocturnes when dance takes over the Fondation Louis Vuitton. Circus performers, opera stars, electro and Sufism transform each gallery into a moving tableau. An arty, effervescent rendez-vous not to be missed on Thursday May 22 and Saturday May 24, 2025.

Mark your calendars - On Thursday May 22 and Saturday May 24, 2025, the Fondation Louis Vuitton transforms its galleries into an arty, XXL choreographic stage for two original Nocturnes Danse, as part of theDavid Hockney 25 exhibition. The British artist, master of pop colors and perspectives, becomes the guiding thread of an eclectic parade mixing contemporary dance, hip-hop, circus and Sufi dance.

The program? A rhythmic alternation between Impromptus - surprise performances in the galleries or hall by circus students from the Rosny-sous-Bois school - and ten-minute choreographic sketches designed to echo the works. Each tableau vivant is integrated into the Norman landscapes, portraits or opera sets painted by Hockney, like a vibrant extension of his universe.

In gallery 5, prima ballerina Germain Louvet performs Satie Stud, a solo by Michael Clark. Somewhere between classical writing and postmodern freedom, his dance unfolds to a piece byErik Satie, in perfect resonance with Hockney's Normandy landscapes.

Also in gallery 5, Marion Motin revisits the Bolero from her show Le Grand Sot, performed here by five dancers from her company. Between racy hip-hop and electrifying scenography, the choreographer behind shows by Stromae, Christine and the Queens and Jean-Paul Gaultier offers an intense, collective reinterpretation.

In gallery 4, the MazelFreten duo of Brandon Masele and Laura Defretin fuse electro dance and contemporary dance to the live music of guitarist Sherwin Assadan. Having already received a standing ovation at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, here they deliver an ethereal, poetic duet in the midst of Hockney's portraits.

Finally, in gallery 10, Iranian choreographer Sahar Dehghan takes over Hockney's opera sets with a gyratory dance solo inspired by Sufism. Award-winning for her film Gravitational Dance, she embodies a spirituality in movement, directly linked to the music and lyrical arts dear to Hockney.

Don't miss these Nocturnes Danse to (re)discover the exhibition from another angle, reinvented by the body, gesture and the vertigo of the living.
