This autumn, zenitude is the order of the day at the Maison de la culture du Japon. The famous Japanese center in Paris invites you to come and relax through the free exhibition "The Spirit of Japanese Gardens", and the photographs of Frédéric Soreau.

Exhibitions, concerts, theater, meetings... Throughout the year, the Maison de la culture du Japon in Paris invites us to escape to the land of the Rising Sun, thanks to its rich cultural program. While the Japanese center is soon to host an exhibition dedicated to Isao Takahata, a pioneer of contemporary cartooning, the venue is offering us an artistic interlude just beforehand, in honor of the tranquility of Japanese gardens.

Often admired, even envied, Japanese gardens fascinate by their design and form. Landscaped gardens, moss gardens, Zen gardens, tea gardens, literate gardens or contemporary gardens... there are many different types of Japanese garden.

This autumn, photographer Frédéric Soreau invites us to discover them. His photographs of Japanese gardens can be admired from September 2 to 27, 2025, in a free exhibition entitled"The Spirit of Japanese Gardens".

Presented in color and black & white, Frédéric Soreau 's photographs are an invitation to contemplation and knowledge. In particular, the exhibition reveals the work of the great landscape gardener Mirei Shigemori, considered a major figure in the 20th-century revival of the Japanese garden.
