Art isn't always serious... Even when it comes to the great paintings of the past! In fact, French painter Pierre-Adrien Sollier likes to make art accessible to all, by hijacking famous paintings...
The artist presents his work in a playful, free exhibition on the walls of Bercy Village from September 25, 2025 to January 18, 2026. The exhibition, entitled Le musée détourné, features 33 works reproducing famous paintings, slightly modified... All the characters in these works have been replaced by Playmobil ® figurines!
Just imagine: La Laitière represented by a Playmobil ® toy, Liberté guidant le peuple surrounded by these little toys, the Birth of Venus or the official portrait of Louis XIV transformed by these iconic figurines from our childhood... No need to imagine, this is what you can admire at Bercy Village!
Pierre-Adrien Sollier revisits these masterpieces of the art world with humor and lightness. From Magritte to Delacroix, Grant Wood to Van Gogh and Basquiat, the artist draws inspiration from all eras and genres. These paintings, with which everyone is familiar, take on a more childlike yet accessible dimension. With his detour, the French artist aims to introduce children to the world of art, creating links between their universe and that of the great artists.
With these works using Playmobil ®, Pierre-Adrien Sollier invents a quirky, pop imagery. Viewers rediscover these classic paintings, and appropriate them in their own way.
A fun and inventive exhibition, not to be missed on your next visit to Bercy Village!
