A contemporary German artist renowned for his monumental abstract works as well as his intimate figurative subjects, Gerhard Richter has been a leading figure in the art world for over 60 years. An eclectic and prolific painter, he is currently being honored at the Louis Vuitton Foundation. Amajor retrospective highlights his work and his highly recognizable style.

The Foundation is dedicating a major exhibition to this internationally renowned artist, bringing together more than 270 works dating from the 1960s to the present day. This exhibition offers us a glimpse into the unusual world of a painter like no other...

If you haven't yet had a chance to see the Gerhard Richter exhibition at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, we have good news: a special evening event will allow you to enjoy this unmissable artistic occasion. As with every major exhibition, the Fondation is organizing an evening event open to all.

On this fourth and final evening at the Foundation, visitors are invited to wander through the exhibits in a more intimate setting. This museum night also features workshops, themed tours, and live performances by international artists. A true celebration of art in the evening light!

The program for this Late Night event at the Louis Vuitton Foundation:

  • 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM
    Micro-tours
    Departing every 30 minutes
    Join cultural mediators to meet an all-around artist whose genius has fueled six decades of creativity. Through his work, relive key moments of a bygone era, wander between abstraction and figuration, and explore the intimate space of an artist's workshop. This unprecedented retrospective, both in scale and timeframe, features 275 works from 1962 to 2024.

    Open Space
    Level 2, Gallery 8
    Throughout the evening, a cultural mediator will shed light on The Song Trapper, an immersive multisensory video installation created specifically for Gallery 8 as part of the Open Space program by Danish artist Jakob Kudsk Steensen. Focusing on rare, little-known, or endangered ecosystems—such as dry lakes, submarine volcanoes, wetlands, and glaciers—his works weave diverse narratives, evoke emotions, and explore philosophies that reflect the impact of global transformations.

    Workshop – Blurring the Sky
    Level 2
    Discover the delicate line between abstraction and figuration! Inspired by Gerhard Richter's Wolken [Clouds], this workshop invites you to create your own piece of sky. Using pastels and curious tools, experiment with different techniques to capture the characteristic blur of the German artist’s style.

    DJ Set – Fip Squad

    Fip Squad embodies the spirit of Fip behind the turntables. From radio to DJ booth, the same passion and curiosity drive them: hip-hop, groove, house, funk, disco, afrobeat—eclecticism as their hallmark.

    Live Performance – Zimmer90
    Auditorium
    Fresh off an international tour that took them as far as Mexico, German alternative pop band Zimmer90 is set to perform at the Foundation. Blending gentle melodies with danceable beats, the iconic duo Finn and Josch craft an ambitious universe where music, design, and art intertwine. With soothing synths, disco basslines, percussion-rich rhythms, and Josch’s distinctive vocals, Zimmer90 offers an aesthetic and dreamlike journey.

    Eat & Drink
    Reception Hall
    La Cantine du Marché teams up with Refugee Food, an organization that welcomes, trains, and celebrates refugee chefs, highlighting the diversity and richness of global culinary cultures. From African-inspired dishes like dibi chicken sandwich with yassa sauce to Mediterranean flavors with halloumi snacks, enjoy a gourmet menu while sipping on sparkling cocktails.
