Arabian horse celebration: Marine Oussedik’s works on display at the Grand Mosque of Paris

Did you know? In 2026, the Grand Mosque of Paris celebrates its 100th birthday! Inaugurated on July 15, 1926, the Grand Mosque of Paris is not just a place of worship. The site also houses a language school and a stunning green space spanning 3,500 square meters, nicknamed the Jardin d’Eden . The Grand Mosque of Paris hosts a variety of cultural events year-round, including a literary prize, performances, and temporary exhibitions.

This spring, the Grand Mosque of Paris is celebrating the Arab horse through the works of Marine Oussedik. Entitled "Celebration of the Arab Horse", this exhibition runs from April 29 to May 29, 2026 and features about forty paintings (ink on paper) by the artist. Loaned by the Living Museum of the Horse at the Château de Chantilly and drawn from private collections, these works offer a renewed look at the unique place the famous Arab horse occupies in the culture and spirituality of the Arab-Muslim world.

Both a painter and a sculptor, Marine Oussedik has dedicated her life and career to horses. A constant source of inspiration for today’s artist, the horse is repeatedly depicted in motion, as if it were coming to life before our very eyes.

Proof of her renown, Marine Oussedik has notably designed décors for the Gien porcelain factory. Sixty of her paintings depicting the Arab horse are also on view at Chantilly’s Living Horse Museum.

This spring, several of these works are on display at the Grande Mosquée de Paris to mark the mosque's centenary. Come and admire the artist's dashing horses, instantly recognizable, from April 29 to May 29, 2026.
