Architecture is everywhere in our daily lives: houses, apartments, bridges, monuments, museums... but we don't always pay attention to the scenery we come across on a regular basis - and yet! The Journées nationales de l'Architecture event invites us to rediscover the world around us, to visit architectural treasures and curiosities, and to learn more about the various trades in this field, to showcase architecture in the capital and its region.
Opened in 1987 in the 5th arrondissement, this sublime museum has become one of the capital's must-see places for a better understanding of Arabic language and culture, thanks to concerts, comedy festivals, conferences, temporary exhibitions that are both educational and topical, and permanent collections.

Participants create a notebook during an imaginary journey through the cities of the Arab world. At each stop in the museum or IMA building, they take notes and draw the wonders they admire along the way. Everyone leaves with a beautiful travel journal as a souvenir of their journey.
Inherited from the international modern architecture movement of the 80s, the IMA building, designed by Jean Nouvel, is nonetheless an iconic work that carries a strong symbolic interpretation of the dialogue between Eastern and Western cultures.
The spirit of the place is expressed through the multiple manifestations of light, a veritable material allied to glass and steel. Modulated, diffused, refracted or reflected thanks to numerous innovative "intelligent" wall devices, or a subtle play of contrasts in the arrangement of spaces and volumes, the immateriality of light acts as a revealer of absence.
From transparent to opaque, through an infinite range of shades of light and shadow, Jean Nouvel's architecture invites visitors to discover, through materiality or optical illusion, the places, images and atmospheres embodied in Arab cultures.
