The number of free swimming pools in Paris is increasing this summer, much to our delight. And it will be possible to swim in the Canal Saint-Martin again this year with the return of Paris Plages from July 5 to August 31, 2025, from 1pm to 4pm.
Meet us in the 10th arrondissement at the Passerelle Bichat, Bassin des Récollets at 116/126 quai de Jemmapes, oppositeEspace Jemmapes and Jardin Villemin, to cool off in complete safety! Changing rooms and showers are available at the Jemmapes sports center. As an added bonus, fans of cultural visits can enjoy exhibitions along both banks!
The locks will remain closed throughout the afternoon to ensure the safety of bathers, thanks to a prefectoral order prohibiting navigation. Checks on canal water quality will also be carried out by the Mairie de Paris and the Ile-de-France Regional Health Agency.
This open-air pool is open to everyone, free of charge. There's also a pontoon and deckchairs for your enjoyment. The number of bathers is limited to 300, and children under 10 years of age or less than 120 cm tall must be accompanied by an adult.
Swimwear is compulsory and swimming shorts are permitted. In the event of bad weather or health risks following weekly tests, swimming may be cancelled.
Please note that it is forbidden to swim outside the designated areas and outside the bathing season. It is also forbidden to jump from bridges and footbridges spanning the canals. As the water is shallow at these points, you run the risk of hitting an object resting on the bottom.
How about a free swim in the middle of Paris?
