Free swims and pools are multiplying this summer 2026 in Paris, to our great delight. And indeed, it will once again be possible to swim in the Canal Saint-Martin with the return of Paris Plages, from July 4 onward until the end of summer.
Meet up in the 10e arrondissement at the passerelle Michèle-Morgan, opposite the espace Jemmapes and the jardin Villemin, to cool off in complete safety. If the venue has no lockers or cloakroom facilities, changing rooms and showers are nonetheless accessible inside the centre sportif Jemmapes.
Note that the locks will remain closed all afternoon, from Wednesday to Sunday, to ensure swimmers’ safety, following a prefectural order banning navigation. All told, you’ll be able to swim laps over a stretch of at least 100m long!
This outdoor pool is free and open to everyone, while a pontoon is installed and sun loungers are made available to bathers. The number of bathers is limited to 300, and children under 10 years old or shorter than 1.20 m must be accompanied by an adult.
It should also be noted that swimwear is mandatory; swim shorts are allowed; it is prohibited to swim outside the designated zones and outside the swimming period, and it is also forbidden to jump from bridges and walkways that cross the canal. The water is shallow in places, so you risk striking an object resting on the bottom.
