A few days before Christmas, the SNCF is organizing a massive spelling bee at Versailles-Chantiers station in Yvelines, on Wednesday, December 17, 2025. The Hall 1 of this station, served by the RER C, the N, U, and V lines, just 15 minutes from Paris by train, will be transformed into a classroom for a few hours. The event aims to raise awareness about French language skills and promote reading. Everyone is welcome—whether you want to brush up on your spelling or compete with others—no registration needed!
Five exercise sessions are scheduled, each featuring a different text, at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 3 p.m., led by Rachid Santaki and notable public figures. The theme revolves around enchantment, as part of the Versailles at the Sound of the Organs festival. In addition, between the dictation exercises, enjoy musical interludes performed by students from the Versailles Grand Parc Regional Conservatory.
To make the most of your trip, explore the enchanting city of Versailles, filled with hidden gems. From its legendary Château to the Hall of the Jeu de Paume, and the historic King’s Vegetable Garden, there's plenty to discover on a guided tour!
