The Fête des Loges, one of the oldest funfairs in France and the most iconic in Île-de-France during the summer season, returns for its 373rd edition in the forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Yvelines), from 26 June to 16 August 2026. Each summer, this historic spectacle draws roughly 3.5 million visitors who come to enjoy its more than 200 rides, its gourmet stalls and its colorful entertainment, just about twenty minutes from Paris by RER. Entrance remains free, with only the attractions costing money. Note that this year, closing time will shift from 2 a.m. to 1 a.m.
The festival kicks off on Friday, June 26, 2026, with the official opening at 6 p.m. and a charity evening in support of a local association. That night, bracelets go on sale for 20 euros between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m., granting access to 15 rides on 15 participating attractions, valid until closing. Note that quantities are limited.
Whether you’re with family, as a couple, or with friends, there’s something for all ages. The youngest will rediscover the classics: Pouss-Pouss, Roller Cars, Petite Sirène, Happy Circus or the Toboggan, not to mention traditional games like the chamboule-tout and fishing for a prize. Thrill-seekers will delight in the King Loop, the Booster Maxx, the Roller Coaster, the U.F.O, the Katapult or the Tagada. And for those who enjoy a shiver with a smile, the Train Fantôme, the auto-tamponneuses and the Banzaï are on tap. More than 20 stands gourmands round out the scene, with candy and fairground treats of all kinds.
On the palate side, l'Allée des Cuisines opens every day at noon, well before the rides. You’ll find Brasserie Milot for French fare, Paillotte for burger lovers, Banm' Bokit with its Creole flavors, and the famous porcelets à la broche de l'Ours Noirs, an institution of the party. Cotton candy, doughnuts and ice cream complete the lineup for those with a sweet tooth. A tip: arrive early to enjoy the alley at a relaxed pace before the festivities really get going.
The Fête des Loges traces its roots back to the 17th century. In 1652, the Saint-Fiacre confraternity, the Irish monk regarded as the patron of gardeners, gives rise to a popular pilgrimage around the chapel of Loges. Over the centuries, the religious procession gradually evolves into a festive fair. In 1893, the town hall decides to extend its duration and to incorporate the Saint-Louis Festival. Today, the forest of Saint-Germain-en-Laye hosts this centuries-old tradition in a lush setting that pleasantly contrasts with the bustle of traditional amusement parks. It’s no accident that the site draws more than 3.5 million visitors each year: there’s something timeless about this festival, which feels like a temporary village sprouting among the trees.
To reach it by public transport, the most convenient option is the RER A to Saint-Germain-en-Laye station, after which the site is accessible on foot (about 20 minutes) or via the Tram T13, Camp des Loges stop. In the evening, the Noctilien N153 runs from Saint-Lazare station. By car, take the A13 motorway, exit Saint-Germain-en-Laye, or the RN184 along Avenue des Loges. Three free parking lots are available on site, with spaces reserved for PMR right in front of the main entrance. A 3€ miniature train (one-way; children pay from age 4) also links the site for those wishing to skip the walk. On site, four vending machines, the Red Cross and the fire department are present.
The festival runs Monday through Thursday from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM, on Friday and Saturday from 2:00 PM to 1:00 AM, and on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 1:00 AM. On public holidays and the eves of holidays, the hours remain the same. The Allée des Cuisines opens from 12:00 PM every day. All details are available on the official Fête des Loges site.
Our take: a well‑paced family outing, pleasant to do in the evening to enjoy the cool of the forest. It's the kind of summer rendezvous you look forward to year after year, for both children and adults who relish the nostalgia of old fairgrounds. We go as much for the atmosphere and the food stalls as for the rides themselves. Recommended for families with kids, groups of friends seeking a relaxed vibe, and anyone looking for things to do in the Yvelines this summer 2026.
Two more funfairs to try in Île-de-France:
A charming fête foraine that's fun and family-friendly, tucked away in a leafy setting, is a great option for a bit of amusement during the sunny days.
