For over twenty years, floating markets from the South-West of France have taken to the Quais de Montebello and Quais de la Tournelle, opposite Notre-Dame de Paris, for a convivial and festive occasion. For those unfamiliar with this gourmet event, here's what you need to know: For three days, producers of foies gras, magrets, fruits, chasselas, sun-drenched vegetables, wines and other delicacies met on the quays of the Seine to let you taste their local specialities. Now it's over: this September gourmet event will no longer be taking over the quays of the Seine in Paris.

Cancelled during the time of the health crisis, the Marchés Flottants du Sud-Ouest had made a comeback in 2022 and 2023. However, in 2024, the famous Olympic year in Paris, the Paralympic Games in September of that year led to the cancellation of this cultural event. In 2025, there are still no Floating Markets on the horizon: in fact, it's all over for good.
In view of rising costs and "increasingly complicated logistics over the last few years", the three départements behind the event, à saveurs le Gers, Lot-et-Garonne and Tarn-et-Garonne, have decided to discontinue the event.
